Places to go, people to kill...
Newsflash: I am wearing maternity tops. In fact, today I am wearing a complete maternity outfit. Been wearing the bottoms for about a month now, but just committed to the tops over the weekend. Much harder to find maternity clothes in "normal" stores this time around. Wal-Mart, K-Mart...no more maternity section. Ditto Target and Kohl's. I hear Old Navy is a good resource - gotta check that out. JCPenney is hit or miss - the larger ones have maybe six racks of stuff. Snapped up two pairs of Capri's and two tops there on Sunday. It was impossible, however, to find a stylish top that didn't look like a tent, so I ended up going to Motherhood and dealing with snooty, rude saleswomen. Got something to wear to my brother's party, though.
Quite a busy weekend for me. Friday night we went to the buffet at the casino for my son's 11th birthday; also threw in a side trip to the arcade that the kids loved. Saturday I took my daughter for Girls' Day Out. We went to David's Bridal and had my dress fitting. My daughter gave it a 10 and said she'd give it a 10,000 if she could. I actually thought it looked pretty good, too. Had to buy a strapless bra from them because the only one I have is from 1995 and does not fit any more. Went to Boston Market for lunch and then ducked into Joann's for some necessary reception items and some totally random impulse purchases (iron-on t-shirt transfers, socks, key chains).
Sunday I woke up early, heard thunder and went back to sleep. No parade, I thought. Got up very late and found out that the parade was delayed, but still on. Very grumpily got dressed and headed over; ended up having a good time. Went to McDonald's, then the mall, where I got aforementioned maternity items plus five shirts for my son. Turns out only one shirt fits. Came home and went to church, had dinner, did laundry.
Monday: Slept late again. Stayed in PJs until 5 p.m. Sent kids out with their father; took a shower and made dinner. Went to the grocery store, got lunches for the week and cupcakes to send in to B's class. Came home and did more laundry; watched Jon & Kate. Stayed up 'til midnight or so, then woke up around 2 a.m. to turn off the TV. Up again at 4:00 after another bad dream.
Today: Back at work, reluctantly. Tried to take my car in for emissions testing; discovered that the registration must be current before emissions testing can be conducted. Trying to figure out how to come up with $700 in back taxes owed to the town. Ex-husband has washed his hands of the situation and until the taxes are paid, the registration can't be renewed, nor the emissions done.
This week: Dance rehearsals every night except Thursday, for the recital this Saturday. I can't go to the recital because it's the same day as my brother's 40th birthday party. Daughter will be staying with ex-husband's family while the rest of us go to New York. I'm not happy about it. Not a fun choice to have to make.
